Last night, the Tampa Bay Bucaneers won the Super Bowl, with Tom Brady getting his seventh ring. Fans of the team headed outside to celebrate as fans are prone to do, and this really, really triggered some people. You see, you are expected to sit in your house for the rest of your life until there is no risk whatsoever that you’ll contract a virus with a 99.5% survival rate (and much higher for those under 75).
Even during the game, figures like Dan Rather were lamenting that commercials showed people without masks. No, I’m not making that up. That’s actual thing that happened because everything is stupid. Meanwhile, after the game, Donald Trump’s niece and The Lincoln Project’s Molly Jong-Fast had a meltdown.
Florida is going to kill us all

You want to know one of the reasons I really, really like Ron DeSantis going forward? This is one of the reasons. He drives these people absolutely insane, and it’s glorious to see. Sure, he’s an excellent governor who checks nearly every policy box for me as well, but watching the left squirm at his mere existence is a big bonus, and it’s one that will give him a leg up on 2024 over figures like Ben Sasse.
Besides, what exactly has DeSantis done to be charged with “crimes against humanity?” His state is in the bottom half of the country in COVID deaths. He has the best vaccination regiment in the nation. Further, he did that while keeping his state open and his economy booming, minimizing deaths of despair and from lack of preventative medicine. Florida has become a mecca for blue-staters who have had enough of lock downs and mask mandates for a reason. DeSantis did things right, and he’s got the results to prove it.
Facts don’t matter to people like Jong-Fast and Mary Trump, though. If it’s BLM riots, they are all on board and hold back on the snarky tweets, but if it’s some football fans going outside, let the hand wringing begin. It’s all just partisan politics in the end.
The reason DeSantis has become such a target is simple. They are scared of him. They know he bridges the divide between the Trump base and the other corners of the party. They also know he has the receipts to back up how good of a leader he is. The attempts to destroy him before 2024 by simply lying about Florida’s response to the virus are purely cynical.
