Joe Biden set heads spinning and the internet talking after making a wild claim at a CNN town hall.
Biden said to Anderson Cooper, “The biggest thing is when you and I talked last, we talked about it’s one thing to have the vaccine – which we didn’t have when we came into office – but a vaccinator,” Biden said. How do you get the vaccine into someone’s arm?”
Now of course, the claim that there was no vaccine when he came into office was just demonstrably untrue.
The vaccine came out in December. The reason that we had it is because of the extraordinary effort to President Donald Trump and Operation Warp Speed that got a vaccine done in historically record time. Before Biden came in, President Donald Trump had vaccine distribution over 1 million doses a day. You don’t do that without both a vaccine and a plan.
Joe Biden had absolutely nothing to do with that effort.
But Biden should have known that the vaccine came out before he got in office because he himself got his first dose of the vaccine in December in public on television. He then received the second dose in January. Kamala Harris also got a first dose in December on television and second in January.
Fox’s Harris Faulkner and others pointed this out.
But the fact checkers from CNN and the WaPo came to Biden’s defense saying that shortly before he’d been talking about there being “only” 50 million doses in the stockpile so that was what he probably meant.
But some GOP folks weren’t buying that explanation for Biden’s statement.
Moreover, another problem with that is that Trump already had more doses on order as the Mercury News reports, with 100 million doses to be delivered no later than July 31. So even if Biden was trying to say that, there’s still a problem with what he’s saying.
The problem of course is that when the Biden team tells huge whoppers like that the Trump Administration left them no plan as both Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have claimed, which is demonstrably untrue, then the problem is it’s hard to trust that any statement that they make.
As we reported yesterday, Kamala Harris said that they were basically forced to start from scratch when they got there. You can hear Larry Kudlow calling that “bulls**t” on the hot mic.
And that of course is the problem. They seem to want to keep diminishing the amazing achievements of the Trump Administration on the vaccine to make what they do seem like more when they inherited something that was already distributing about 1 million doses a day.
